Westpac has updated their Online EFTPOS authentication for Online EFTPOS.

Effective 14 May, Westpac Banking App users can no longer use their mobile number when making a payment via Online EFTPOS.

This is a Westpac-side change. Online EFTPOS remains unchanged for customers of other NZ banks, who will continue to authenticate as they do today.

Westpac customers must now:

• Enter their 9-digit Westpac Customer ID
• Westpac customers cannot use their alias (nick name) associated with their Customer ID
• The Alias aspect is causing customer confusion, and we have observed an increase in failed/errored transactions

A reminder of this requirement is displayed on the payment form after Westpac is selected.

We are working with Westpac to improve this issue and are actively seeking their support.
